Thick Jumper Day
As part of our commitment to reducing the schools Carbon Footprint we held another Thick Jumper Day
As our school we are looking for ways o reduce our Carbon Footprint. On Friday 13th We held a Thick Jumper day. The idea behind this was we were turning the heating down in the school, to encourage people to close doors and windows. 2/3 of the CO2 we produce comes from burning gas to heat the school. In 2015 we released 440 tonnes of CO2 as a school. 214 tonnes of this came from our use of gas, which is a larger proportion than the electricity we use for lighting and computers. With the cost of living escalating it is also good to consider ways to 'heat the individual, not the house' in an effort to reduce energy bills.
The Eco club ran a competition to see who had the best thick jumper of all the pupils around the school. The winner of a £20 voucher was Bev Doe in Year 12
Congratulations to everyone who came along and made an effort on the day. If you are interested in Green issues, come along to the Eco club on Monday lunchtimes in 7A6 with Mr Pearce
