During Activities Week 41 Balcarras pupils travelled to Belgium and France to tour the First World War Battlefields. As part of this trip our pupils were able to take part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

Three Balcarras pupils, Edward Wheeler, Hannah Box and Alma Tillman laid a wreath during the ceremony as the rest of the group, along with hundreds of members of the public, watched on.

They were an absolute credit to the school and their families! Several members of the public were particularly complimentary about how smart they looked, and how well they conducted themselves.

It is a very moving ceremony, all the more so when you realise that it happens every single day.
