STEM week
This week is STEM week
To celebrate Science Technology and Maths week the school is having a range of events and activities for pupils to take part in. There are lunchtime talks on everything from ice cream to exotic animals. There area a range of assemblies for different year groups.
Year 9 took part in a challenge to build a car that would accelerate down a ramp and travel the furthest in a straight line. During this STEM week session, they worked in teams to drill, shape, assemble and decorate their car. This activity is a great combination of Science and D&T skills with students considering the centre of mass, potential energy, friction, and aerodynamics.
The competition was won by Lola Hunton, Daisy Cook and Flora Johnson with a whopping 7.77 metres! They will each receive a £10 Amazon voucher for their victory. Well done from Mrs Swanepoel.
