Mo footy and Mo runners

Teachers at Balcarras have been raising awareness about the mens health charity 'Movember'

This month staff at school have been growing their mo's and having conversations about Movember and mens health. Movember highlights the issues men face in terms of mental health and male specific illnesses such as prostate cancer.

We have hosted two events to draw attention to this. On Tuesday we had a Mo's v No Mo's football match, where staff played at lunctime. This was popular with the pupils and there were around 400 spectators watching. The win sadly went to the No-Mo's, 4-1. Mr Goddard got a hatrick, and the assist for Mr Rothwells bullet header gave the No Mo's the win. The Mo's managed to get a goal back in the last few minutes from Mr Wellers effort. It was a great match and a great atmosphere. Particular mention to Miss Liggett who won the player of the match award, she dictated the play in the middle of the field.

On Wednesday we then held a Mo-runner event, where pupils were given a Moustache for doing some laps around the field, with the Cross country club. Around 30 pupils took part in the event. "It was great to see so many people out doing something good for their physical and mental health" said Mr Critchley manager of the Cross Country club.
