Record numbers for Bikeability

Year 8 pupils have just taken part in a Bikeability course

This year we have seen record numbers of Year 8 pupils taking part in the Bikeability cycle course. This is run by the local council, and is part of the National Bikeability scheme. The aim is to make pupils safer when cycling on roads. The course lasts 4 hours and the pupils cycle around the roads with an instructor and one other pupil.

The skills covered include: planning a journey, riding assertively and how to negotiate hazards. Each pupil receives written feedback on their ability and what to work on next. This year saw 72 Year 8 pupils taking part in this.
